"What do you do?" people ask me.
"What do you need?" I reply.
Our life's work matters, no matter what it is. We're given energy and intellect, time and space and free will to decide how to use these resources. I've had the pleasure of reinventing myself numerous times (read my autobiography under the "family" tab), changing where I live, how I play, who I play with and what I do to make money. Four years ago I connected the dots between passion, work, play and income and left my false sense of security from salaries and group health insurance plans behind.
SoWowMe Marketing Communications
In college, I made gas money creating ads for local Tuscaloosa businesses - everything from shoe sale signs to University Mall's calendar of events. I won an Advertising Federation Award for use of spot color in a newspaper (can you believe retailers once ran
two color ads?). I've worked on national, regional and local campaigns for service, retail, entertainment, utility and non-profit through my creative services company, For more information, visit

TurnKey NewHouse Home Plan Services
For twenty-five years I've had a
blast drawing home plans. Initially, I worked with individuals on custom, one-of-a-kind designs, some as large as 12,000-square feet. For the last eight years, more of my work has been for high-volume production homebuilders, producing cottages as small as 1,200 square feet (still every bit as fun). I also create architectural renderings, using watercolor, PhotoShop and pastels. For more information, visit

Creative Writing
I've written for profit in every job since college, but now I write for fun and because I find it unavoidable. I'm currently on a journey to publish a 70,000-word novel, a work of literary fiction and magical realism with film and television potential. If you'd like to know more about
Fellowship of the Fireflies, please email or call me through the contact page on this website. You can read my blog by visiting

Service
Volunteer work I do yields much greater dividends than anything I do for income. I've been blessed to tutor three young boys from North Birmingham through the S.T.A.I.R. (Start The Adventure In Reading) Program at Independent Presbyterian Church. I also teach high school Sunday school, where I learn more than I teach. I support causes throughout our community, but literacy and faith (balanced with work and raising a family) are top priorities.
